Beta Readers

     Every fandom needs beta readers that are familiar with the characterizations, scenery, and/or episode information. These things are important in addition to spelling, grammer, ect. Beta readers are the backbone of fan fiction in that they can help an author to overcome little quirks (we all have them), smooth out the flow of a story, and give ideas and input.

I'm a big BtVS and AtS fan, and I pretty much have the first four seasons of Buffy and the first two seasons of Angel comitted to memory (Don't you just love DVDs?). I've been reading and writing fanfiction online for a little over four years. Most of my usefulness comes from my knowledge of the fandom and of the characters. If you want to know obscure details that most people probably don't pick up on, I probably can help you. I also have a good grasp on the flow and grammar. Spelling, now that is not my strongest point, but I always have my handy-dandy dictinary on hand (Spell Check is wrong half the time). I'm only sixteen, which means I have other things that tend to get in the way of my betaing, like being grounded, but when that does happen, I'll post a notice on my livejournal and email people I'm already working with. Slash writer (3 years online, 12+ years offline), Grad Student, multi-fandom reader.
